Launch of Black History Month in Laval

During Immigrant Entrepreneurship and Community Engagement Day, the Mayor of Laval, Mr. Marc Demers, launched Black History Month in Laval on January 31, 2020, to celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Afro-descendants in making Laval a proud and diverse city.

Femmes en Emploi, an organization recognized by the Municipality of Laval, was chosen to sign the guestbook for its participatory approach and commitment to social cohesion and intercommunity integration.

Let’s recall that during the City Council in April 2019, Mrs. Jocelyne Frédéric-Gauthier, City Councillor of Auteuil, had several proposals adopted, including one to declare FEBRUARY Black History Month in Laval, and another to recognize the International Decade of People of African Descent.
